About the Kollel

Community Work

The numbers of Baalei Teshuva in Chicago B”H continues to grow through the hard work of local frontline kiruv organizations. After their flash of inspiration, and even for those fortunate enough to have learned in Israel briefly, integrating into the greater observant community has not been easy, especially for those of Russian descent.

Kollel Ateres Ami offers a revolutionary Yeshiva-like structured learning program with different tracks to help people of all levels improve their Torah learning skills as well as gain a deep understanding of the principles our faith is built upon. We specialize in facilitating continued growth for people at all levels. Whether, 6 a.m. or 8 p.m. the Kollel is filled with energetic young men fully engaged in Torah learning with peers, mentors and role models.

Having grown up within Chicago’s secular Russian community and medical school background, the Rosh Kollel can relate to their background and needs. Additionally, this background allows him to relate the Torah to modern day science and philosophy. Finally, and most importantly, the Rosh Kollel has devoted many years to learning the field of Hashkafa to help people appreciate the wisdom of the Torah.

Kollel's Objective for its Avreichim

To help prepare young men during the formative period of their lives for a life of community leadership and contribution. Specifically, to give them a good grasp of the tractates that are most relevant to daily Jewish life, to develop their knowledge in Hashkafa, and to teach and inspire them to give back to the community.
